Select an object in the Tree view or the 3D view. Optionally select an object, this is not required if you want the select subelements: Press the Object button. The Datum shape parameters task panel opens. the site object is still not very useful at the moment. Select the Part Design Create a shape binder option from the menu. If you use the arch site tool with that solid selected, it becomes a site object, but in reality there is not much need for that (yet). That mesh is then easy to import into FreeCAD and convert to a solid. ![]() ![]() So I obtain a tight, closed mesh with a "flat" base and a top representing my terrain. Usually you get a mesh from your topograph, what I usually do is to put this mesh in blender, take its border edges, extrude them to some distance below, then flatten the Z coordinate of the extruded edges, then close them with a face. if you are doing consequent terrain modification (as I suppose is your case), then you will want to know precisely the volume of earth to be moved, and I'd go for a solid shape. if you are going to do relatively simple operations, where earth movements can be regarded as not very significant (typically, you are only doing foundations, no "digging" or modifying the terrain profile), I would just place a mesh there, or a very simple shape. ![]() The intention is to provide to users with open models that they can use and test in workflows with this parametric. This list presents a group of 3D emblematic architecture models created with FreeCAD software, freely available from different sources and authors (forums, repositories, webpages, etc). I think I would use two different workflows, depending on the situation: Architecture Classics modelled in FreeCAD.
